Ethiopia is the origin of all coffee, and as such, coffee grows there wildly. Unlike anywhere else on earth, with only one or two varieties on a farm, in Ethiopia many different varieties grow together, which is why they are often given the “heirloom” variety indicator. Sidamo is in the southern part of the country. The area is known for high altitudes of 1,600-1,900 masl, high rainfall, moderate temperatures, and perfect soil for coffee production. Sidamo coffees are known for complex flavors, lemony acidity & floral aromas. This beautiful cooperative heirloom coffee lot is a mix from up to 1000 small local farmers who deliver their coffee cherries to process, at the washing station in Sidama Yirgalem.
